Message from developer
Hi.
I'm Xi, the lead developer of Aeron.
We began Aeron as a high school project, pushed it through some hard times, and eventually released it
on SourceForge. It was built with lots of drive and passion, but my estimate was that about 10 people
will ever download such a niche thing.
It would seem that my estimation was off by about 175,000! I would like to sincerely thank everyone
for trying and downloading Aeron. We are humbled to have so many people playing our game!
At the same time, I would like to personally apologise for not treating this project with more care
and maintenance. Looking back, it certainly looks like a lost opportunity.
Over these 8 years since release, Aeron has been through various sequels development attempts, proflightsim scams,
talks of legal action against them with the passionate flightgear community (check out flight
gear, they are awesome!), arrogant university professors, modders, and been in the hands of people
I never would have expected.
My vision for Aeron is still incomplete. I wish I had the time and resources to make a Steam-integrated
multi-platform sequel to Aeron with updated engine and graphics, ranked play, dedicated servers,
and co-operative missions, while keeping the same core of simplicity, minimalism and accessibility.
I am currently working on games as just a hobby, so stuff will take some time. I last
worked on a puzzle platformer called Antiflux (check it out on Steam!).
To this day I still don't know who is actually downloading Aeron. But whoever you are, whereever
you serve, whatever you fly, thank you and sorry.
Check six,
- Xi
ps. feel free to follow me on Twitter and say hi!
